Ophthalmic Technician OpportunityBusy West Hartford Ophthalmology practice (with 9 satellite locations), looking for an ophthalmic technician with experience. Must be detail-orientated and a team player to work in a friendly fast paced environment. We have a completely computerized office including electronic medical records.Ophthalmic Technician will assist the Physicians with diagnostic testing, preliminary patient evaluations and other assigned tasks not limited to the Clinical Department.Supervisory Responsibilities:No immediate supervisory responsibilitiesDuties/Responsibilities:Complete preliminary patient evaluations with a high level of accuracy, efficiently and in accordance with Solinsky EyeCare standardsGather and verify the patient's ocular history, medical history, and chief complaintTake ocular measurements as assigned by the physician (i.e., Manual Refraction (preferred) + Auto Refraction)Perform diagnostic tests as assigned by the physician (visual field, OCT, fundus photos, external photos, topography, lipiscan, TearLab, Inflammadry, FA's, color vision screening, stereo testing, VEP, ERG, HRT,....etc.)Administer ocular medications (eye drops/ointments) as requested by the physicianPrepare examination rooms and maintain a clean workspaceAssist the physician with office procedures (lesion excisions, YAG capsulotomy, YAG PI.... etc.)Willing to learn new skills as required by the needs of the practice within 6 months of their introductionWilling to travel to satellite offices as needed (reliable transportation is needed)Assist with other assigned tasks not listed by Clinical Leadership and SEC ManagementRequired Skills/Abilities:Be a team player and maintain a professional and positive attitudeMaintain a professional appearance as outlined in the employee handbookMaintain confidentiality of sensitive information as it relates to patients and staff membersStudy the CPSS Home Study Modules and pass the CPSS exam within 6 months of hireComplete COA Home Study Guide and questions within 18 months of hireStudy for and take COA test within 2 years of hireAbility to multi-taskAbility to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional mannerAbility to communicate clearly and effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writingEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalentCOA Certification preferred but not requiredExperience in an Eye Care setting or Medical Office is preferableBi-Lingual a plus.Benefits:401K (Profit Sharing Plan)Dental InsuranceEmployee Perk DiscountsHealth InsuranceLife InsurancePaid Time Off/HolidaysUniform AllowanceVision Insurance
