Pay: $90,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year

Location: Smithtown, NY (center of Long Island). This is a full-time, in-office role in a firm with a strong team culture. Ideal for attorneys already based on Long Island or those currently commuting into Manhattan who are ready to bring that experience closer to home. Team members commute from across Long Island, from Great Neck to the Hamptons.

Note: Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years of active litigation experience and be admitted to the New York Bar. Candidates whose primary recent experience has been insurance defense or exclusively in-house will generally not be considered. Job Description

• Analyze intake facts, claims, defenses, venue, jurisdiction, procedural posture, and early leverage points to shape case strategy from the outset
• Draft complaints, answers, motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, discovery motions, and appellate briefs where applicable
• Build factual records for motion practice through targeted discovery - drafting demands, responses, objections, subpoenas, and deficiency letters
• Prepare witnesses for deposition; defend and take depositions as readiness is demonstrated
• Participate in court appearances, oral arguments, arbitration proceedings, and administrative hearings
• Collaborate directly with senior litigators on strategy, research, and case development
• Leverage AI-assisted research tools and cloud-based case management systems to sharpen analysis, accelerate workflow, and strengthen advocacy
• Manage multiple complex matters simultaneously across varied practice areas - this is not a narrow specialty shop

Qualifications

• 2+ years of active litigation experience (plaintiff, defense, or both)
• New York Bar admission required
• Federal court experience (SDNY, EDNY) strongly preferred; NJ and CT experience a plus
• Commercial, employment, or discrimination litigation background preferred
• Strong legal writing and motion drafting skills
• Deposition and court appearance experience preferred
• Organizational discipline and deadline management in a high-volume case load
• Comfort working full-time in-office in Smithtown, NY
• Insurance defense-focused candidates generally do not fit this profile
