Respiratory Therapist

An allied healthcare team member who works under the supervision of the Respiratory Medical Director and Department Manager. Responsible for the treatment, management, control, and diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Ability to triage safely, rapidly, and accurately every patient that enters the emergency care system. Determines priorities of care based on patients' physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with physicians about changes in the patient's status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies. Responsible for providing Respiratory Care services following specific physician's orders and department policies. Encompasses patient assessments, diagnostic evaluations, therapeutic interventions, and patient, caregiver, and community education.
