Material Handler FULL TIME Elkhart, IN, US 4 days ago Requisition ID: 1246 JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective: The Material Handler/Shipping position is responsible for the accurate, safe, and timely preparation and shipment of domestically built roller shades and imported roller shades to OEM and aftermarket customers. This role picks, verifies, packages, labels, stages, loads, and records outbound orders; operates forklifts and pallet jacks; and coordinates with production, inventory, customer service, and carriers to meet customer and shipping requirements. The position also supports material movement and inventory accuracy throughout the facility while ensuring products are protected from damage and handled in accordance with safety, quality, and shipping procedures. Essential Functions: Pick, verify, and stage domestically built and imported roller shades for shipment to OEM and aftermarket customers in accordance with sales orders, customer requirements, and established shipping schedules. Verify product numbers, quantities, customer destinations, packaging instructions, and shipment documentation against sales orders, pick lists, packing lists, and bills of lading; promptly resolve or report discrepancies. Package and secure roller shades to prevent damage during handling and transit; apply required labels, customer‑specific markings, and shipping documents. Prepare accurate packing lists, bills of lading, carrier labels, and other required shipment records; enter or confirm shipment transactions in the applicable business or inventory system. Safely load parcel, less‑than‑truckload, and truckload shipments using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other approved material‑handling equipment; confirm load condition, count, and securement before release. Coordinate shipment readiness, pickup timing, dock activity, and exceptions with production, inventory, customer service, and transportation providers to support on‑time delivery. Inspect finished products and shipping materials for visible damage or packaging concerns, maintain accurate staging locations, and assist with cycle counts, material movement, and inventory reconciliation as needed. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple orders to meet daily carrier pickup and customer delivery requirements. Effective communication and problem‑solving skills for resolving order, inventory, packaging, and carrier discrepancies. Supervisory Responsibility: None. Work is performed primarily indoors in warehouse, production, shipping, staging, and loading‑dock areas, with occasional outdoor work during loading and carrier activity. Conditions may include seasonal temperature changes, vehicle traffic, moving equipment, and periods of elevated noise. Physical Demands: The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and handling of roller shades and packaging materials. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis and safely mount and dismount powered industrial equipment. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: 40 hours per week with potential for overtime. Travel: No travel is required for this position. Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous shipping, warehouse, material‑handling, or order‑fulfillment experience preferred. Ability to read and accurately complete sales orders, pick lists, packing lists, bills of lading, shipping labels, and related documentation. Forklift certification or the ability to obtain company‑required certification.
