Director Clinical Resources

Job Summary and Qualifications The Clinical Resource Director is responsible for establishing and leading the supply expense agenda for the clinical resource management program for Surgery Ventures Group (SVG) centers. The CRD is responsible for driving positive change through program definition and leading initiatives that support the health care organization's clinical expense agenda. The position is responsible for reviewing and optimizing the group purchasing organization’s contract portfolio and for developing and executing product standardization with the value analysis committees. The CRD has a broad enterprise and segment influence and will need to build strategic alliances with Division/Center Leadership, Physicians and Supply Chain to execute successfully the clinical supply expense plan. The position requires confidence, independent action, initiative, a sense of urgency, and the ability to make and take responsibility for their decisions. A well‑suited candidate will react, adjust quickly, and develop actions during changing conditions. Major Responsibilities Develops and implements center or division-based strategies and processes to reduce supply expense per adjusted admission. Identifies and implements supply expense margin improvement with a primary focus on high cost of goods departments to include surgical services and special procedures. Identifies centers supply expense variances and develops action plans to mitigate an increase in supply expense; and participates in monthly operating reports and supply expense planning. Participates, develops content and facilitates value analysis meetings such as center based, division based, service line or physician‑led meetings. Utilizes clinical product value analysis committees to review products and technology for clinical evidence and benefit; discuss financial considerations to include contract compliance, cost and reimbursement; identify opportunities to standardize products and reduce waste; and maintain or increase product quality and patient outcomes. Builds relationships and increases customer satisfaction with leadership, chief medical officer, clinical leaders, physicians, value analysis teams and supply chain leadership. Develops relationships and collaborates with leadership and staff, physicians, and supply chain to identify, develop and implement continuous quality improvement and cost containment processes for supplies, technology and labor practices. Rounds within the departments and observes procedural cases to identify opportunities and build relationships. Participates with medical staff and clinical staff to monitor, communicate and make improvements on product standardization, appropriate utilization and reduction in waste. Ensures communication and education regarding product and procedure changes occurs in all centers, to include physicians and medical management personnel. Ability to understand and conduct financial analysis of quantitative and qualitative information through strong data mining and analytical skills. Reviews, analyzes, maintains and communicates facility(s) financial and performance measurements as gauge of standardization, utilization, clinical outcomes and reimbursement success. Identifies and communicates alternative products during product recalls or backorders. Supports the center during man‑made or natural disasters. Demonstrates the traits, inclinations, and dispositions that characterize a successful leader; and exhibits a behavior style that meets the demands of the leader role. The key leadership actions are engaging people, driving toward success, sustaining a positive lookout, and inspiring confidence. Interacts and develops relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand their customer needs and challenges. Creates external and internal customer confidence, sets achievable customer expectations and demonstrates responsibility for solving customer challenges by soliciting opinions and ideas from customers to improve products and services. Manages projects within scope, time, and budget; collaborates with organizations to track and analyze financial data; and performs data mining to quantify financial impact of supply and operational savings. Demonstrates project management skills by determining action steps and milestones required for each project and works directly with key stakeholders to implement a specific business initiative. Provides effective communication, which includes verbal and good listening, writing, and presentation skills, to a variety of stakeholders from executives to staff; demonstrates effective problem solving and time management skills; and demonstrates knowledge and expertise by servicing as a facilitator, technical advisor, subject matter expert and analyst to key stakeholders and team members. What you will need for this role Bachelor’s degree (Business, Health Administration, Nursing, Pharmacy or other Allied Health Profession) required; Master’s degree highly preferred. Three years of value analysis/clinical/leadership experience, preferred. Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation, required. Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP), Certified Value Analysis Health Professional (CVAHP), or similar credential, preferred.
