Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Float Pool)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 4x12-Hour Shifts (7:00–19:30) | Expected 48 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on Medical Surgical units within a community-based hospital setting, maintaining a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Float to Med Surg units as well as Med Surg boarders in other departments throughout the facility as needed to meet census demands
• Perform and manage a broad range of clinical skills including feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and IV starts
• Manage respiratory support modalities including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management, and oral suctioning
• Oversee chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac) and administer heparin therapy as ordered
• Maintain strict isolation precautions and document all patient care accurately using Cerner electronic health records

Required Qualifications

• Active New Mexico RN license required (license may be pending at time of submission)
• ACLS and BLS certifications required (RQI certifications not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience; first-time travelers accepted
• Must be available to work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles: Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve & New Year's Day
• COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with completed exemption documentation
• Must live at least 100 miles from the facility to be eligible; non-local driver's license required on file

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with telemetry (MS/Tele) in addition to core Med Surg competencies
• Familiarity with renal failure management and hemodialysis patient care
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health records charting platform
• Comfort working in a float pool environment across multiple units
