ELECTRICIAN-ASSISTANT (CLASS CODE 1760)

Job Summary Entry- and training-level electrical systems work in the installation, maintenance and repair of the City’s electrical infrastructure, including wires, cables and lines. Employees assist in preventive maintenance, repair of system components and equipment, and progress toward advancement to a licensed electrician class. Responsibilities Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of the City’s electrical infrastructure. Perform preventive maintenance of electrical systems. Repair system components and equipment. Inspect, test, diagnose and install electrical system components and equipment. Support related work as required to gain experience and advance qualifications. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Verified "Class E" Electrical Helper’s (Trainee) License issued by the City of New Orleans. Provide original documents proving qualifying credentials prior to start date. Ability to work safely with electrical systems and equipment. Licensure Class “E” Electrical Helper’s (Trainee) License issued by the City of New Orleans. Prior to appointment, the hiring agency verifies certification claimed by the applicant; selected applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials before their start date.
