Cognitive Behavioral Therapist

BASIC FUNCTION:To work with individuals who have experienced a traumatic brain injury as a Cognitive Therapist or Behavioral Therapist.Cognitive Therapist works with individuals that have experienced a traumatic brain injury to develop and utilize methods that enhance cognitive functioning. The Cognitive Therapist assists the individual through various methods including guided practice on tasks that reflect particular cognitive functions, development of new skills and strategies for taking in new information, use of memory aids and other assistive devices.Behavioral Therapist works with individuals that have experienced a traumatic brain injury to change in ways that they would like to change. These strategies are used to help increase the quality of life of the individual with TBI in their community. Behavior Therapy emphasizes the individual’s current environment. It focuses on making positive changes in that environment while improving the individual’s self-control using procedures to expand the person’s skills, abilities, and level of independence.SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for learning and implementing all aspects of Minds Matter LLC philosophical principles.Assists individuals to identify their needs and develop appropriate compensatory strategies to accommodate certain aspects of their brain injury. This includes developing, with the consumer, techniques for enhancing consumers’ problem solving, memory, planning, organizational and processing skills.Integrate employment, educational and independent living goals into therapy.Work closely with the consumer and other team members to determine when goals are attained.Provide services only as designated on each individual consumer’s authorized plan of care.Educate families and caregivers about the consequences of brain injury and communicate with them about goals and progress as needed.Document sessions with the consumer the day of the service and is goal driven, concise, factual, and clear.Attend all weekly conference calls and webinars with licensed supervisors.Document sessions with the consumer the day of the service and is goal driven, concise, factual, and clear.Establish and maintain a professional rapport with all consumers, co-workers, referral agents and representatives of other community agencies and services.Promote public relations throughout the agency and community for the program.Perform other duties as assigned.Provide care and maintenance for Minds Matter LLC issued iPad.Maintain confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.Possibly serve as a consumer’s team lead, which entails being accountable for updating goal plans and team meeting history forms during the team meetings with progress, effectiveness of strategies, concerns, task assignments to team members, or changes to goals.MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High School or GED required with one year or more years of related experience preferred.Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Proficient knowledge of Microsoft OfficeExcellent written, verbal communication skillsMust be organized, possess problem solving skills, and be able to multi taskMust have advanced analytical skillsHigh degree of sensitivity toward all peopleAbility to effectively plan, coordinate and assist with intake process and systemsAttention to detail #J-18808-Ljbffr Minds Matter, LLC
