Payroll Coordinator - Morgantown, WV


A well-established organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Coordinator in Morgantown, WV to join its HR and payroll team. This position will support multi-state payroll operations across multiple business units while helping ensure employees are paid accurately, efficiently, and on time.

Payroll Processing Responsibilities


The Payroll Coordinator will:

• Support semi-monthly payroll processing for non-union employees
• Assist with weekly payroll processing for assigned union employees during training and transition
• Maintain accurate employee and payroll records within payroll and ERP systems
• Process payroll changes for new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, and pay rate changes
• Review payroll information for accuracy and identify discrepancies
• Research and resolve payroll issues in a timely manner
• Help ensure payroll deadlines are consistently met

Payroll Compliance & Reporting

• Assist with payroll tax reporting and compliance
• Process and maintain records for garnishments, tax levies, unemployment claims, and other payroll notices
• Maintain payroll documentation according to applicable federal and state requirements
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports as needed
• Support payroll operations across multiple business units and states
• Help maintain accurate and compliant payroll records

Benefits & 401(k) Administration

• Assist employees with 401(k) enrollment and account changes
• Process payroll-related benefits and contribution updates
• Assist with union benefits and vacation accruals
• Maintain accurate employee benefit and payroll records
• Help answer employee questions related to payroll, deductions, and benefits

HR & Administrative Support


In addition to payroll responsibilities, this position will provide support to the HR team, including:

• Assist with job postings and recruiting administration
• Help coordinate pre-employment screening
• Assist with employee onboarding activities
• Provide professional and responsive support to employees and office administrators
• Assist with office supply procurement and other administrative responsibilities as needed
• Support additional HR and payroll projects

Payroll Coordinator Qualifications

• Previous payroll experience required
• Multi-state payroll experience preferred
• Union payroll experience is a plus
• Working knowledge of payroll compliance, garnishments, benefits, and 401(k) administration
• Experience using payroll software
• iSolved experience is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities
• Ability to clearly explain payroll information to employees and management
• Ability to work effectively as part of a small HR and payroll team
• Comfortable supporting employees across multiple locations
• Ability to work independently and meet payroll deadlines
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential employee information
