Campus Safety Attendant

York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. The Campus Safety Attendant performs the following functions:

• Patrols York Technical College ensuring the safety of personnel and buildings on campus. Assists with unlocking or locking buildings.
• Be alert to possible problems on campus. Patrol on foot, golf carts, and/or vehicles as required. Be watchful of safety/security concerns.
• Provide vehicle assistance to faculty, staff, students, and visitors of York Technical College to include jump starts and other forms of assistance that may be required.
• Provide escorts to parking lots or vehicles for faculty, staff, and students when requested.
• Investigate complaints and incidents occurring on York Technical College campus.
• Monitor alarms and surveillance cameras located in the Campus Safety Office.
• Respond to emergencies and alarms. Complete proper documentation of situations and forward to supervisor.
• Maintain communication with Campus Safety/Law Enforcement team. Respond to other members requiring assistance. Assist local Law Enforcement while on York Technical College campus.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certified or willing to become certified.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

• At least a high school diploma or GED
• At least three years of experience with safety, security, EMS or law enforcement
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid drivers license
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certified or able to become certified within first 90 days of employment
• Regular walking and standing for extended periods of time
• Able to lift or move 15 pounds
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related fields preferred.
• Familiarity with: de-escalation, surveillance cameras, fire and burglar alarms, computer operating systems (Microsoft Word, Excel)
