2026-27 Middle School Assistant Dance Coach (Paseo Academy)

Job Title: Middle School Assistant Dance Coach Salary Grade: $2000 Department: Athletics Reports To: Athletic Director / Building Principal Position Summary Provide leadership for the school's athletic program through the continuous development, implementation, and enhancement of the sport(s) assigned, while promoting student‑athlete growth, program excellence, and alignment with district goals and expectations. Responsibilities Compete with a full team in a complete varsity schedule (according to MSHSAA standards). Implement and enforce athletic standards as outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook and attend all MSHSAA required sessions for head coaches as well as District professional development meetings. Responsible for student supervision at practices and contests in accordance with KCMSD Athletic Department policies. Ensure constant care of equipment and inventory; inspect all athletic equipment and facilities, verify inventory, and submit documentation to the Athletic Director/Principal. Conduct all team and self‑activities in an ethical manner during practices and contests, exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship. Arrange for the systematic return of all school equipment, maintain a correct inventory, and hold the student‑athlete responsible for all equipment not returned in accordance with the KCMSD Athletic Department Handbook. Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments and arrange for the issuance of letters and special awards. Submit all information to the Athletic Director within two weeks after the completion of the season. Work with the Principal to provide a solid program. Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications. Responsible for all aspects of: Player development Fundraising Internal and external promotion of the specific sport and its needs Supervising an effective staff of assistant coaches Has full responsibility for all aspects of the program. Establish performance goals for each sport season and evaluate them during and after the season. Promote student athletes’ accomplishments academically and athletically. Provide statistics after each contest to the District Public Relations and other media. Must fulfill 8 contact hours of professional development: Outside meetings/clinics School level meetings District level meetings Must successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses. A strong commitment to the student‑athlete concept and working knowledge of all collegiate eligibility center regulations. Minimum Qualifications Must possess a four‑year college degree and be contracted by the KCMSD Board of Education for the school year as a full or part‑time teacher or have 1–3 years of coaching experience. Knowledge of the particular sport (philosophy & coaching). Must successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses. A strong commitment to the student‑athlete concept and working knowledge of all collegiate eligibility center regulations.
