Position Summary: CMGM seeks a part-time, hourly Bioinformatics Research Associate to develop large language model (LLM)-based bioinformatics pipelines. The associate will use Python, software development, and cloud computing to build, evaluate, and maintain reproducible research workflows. Duties & Responsibilities: Develop and evaluate LLM-based bioinformatics pipelines Integrate LLMs with bioinformatics tools and cloud computing resources Write, test, debug, and maintain Python software and reusable pipeline components Document workflows, assess output quality, and communicate results to the research team Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required At least 2 years of lab experience which may include student experience Bachelor's degree in related science will be considered in lieu of experience Demonstrated skills in Python programming, LLM development, bioinformatics pipeline development, software development, and cloud computing Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a hourly employee at VCU Preferred Qualifications PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field Salary Range: $25-$30/hr Benefits : All VCU employee types are eligible for a wide array of benefits to support you during your employment at VCU.
