About the Role We're looking for a Policy & Regulatory Affairs Manager to help shape and execute our policy and regulatory strategy at a critical moment of growth. As demand accelerates and regulatory landscapes evolve, this role will be instrumental in ensuring we can scale effectively while navigating complex policy environments. You'll help translate external regulatory developments into clear, actionable insights that inform company strategy. You'll play a key role in identifying risks and opportunities, shaping our policy positions, and ensuring alignment between our business objectives and the broader regulatory context. You'll work closely with legal, product, operations, and leadership teams, as well as external stakeholders including regulators, policymakers, and industry groups. This role requires a high degree of ownership and judgment - you'll be expected to operate independently, prioritize effectively in a fast-moving environment, and influence decisions across the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze policy developments across relevant jurisdictions (e.g., energy, infrastructure, AI, or technology policy)
- Translate regulatory changes into business impact, providing clear recommendations to internal stakeholders
- Support policy strategy development, including identifying risks, opportunities, and engagement priorities
- Draft policy materials, including briefing notes, consultation responses, position papers, and executive memos
- Engage with external stakeholders, including regulators, policymakers, industry associations, and partners
- Coordinate cross-functional alignment with legal, product, operations, and leadership teams
- Support advocacy efforts, including meetings, submissions, and public-facing initiatives
- 5+ years of experience in public policy, government, regulatory affairs, or a related field (e.g., government agency, consultancy, think tank, or in-house)
- Strong understanding of regulatory processes and stakeholder landscapes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to distill complex issues clearly and concisely
- Experience drafting policy documents or engaging in regulatory processes
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence without authority
- Experience in relevant sectors to Emerald AI (e.g., energy, infrastructure, AI/tech)
- Experience working with or before state Public Utility Commissions and/or the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
- Experience working with or before Independent System Operators/Regional Transmission Organizations (ISO/RTOs) (e.g., PJM, ERCOT)
- Experience engaging directly before regulators or government officials
- Experience at a high-growth company or scaling organization
