Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic

Job Title

Provides maintenance for vehicle fleet and mobile communications equipment including installation; inspects and maintains hydraulic and other aerial lifting devices associated with vehicle fleet.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Observes and practices CEMC safety rules, procedures, safety policies, and bulletins.
• Performs maintenance on company vehicles as assigned; maintains and updates logs on each vehicle concerning work performed.
• Installs and maintains mobile communication equipment in company vehicles.
• Assists in purchasing and maintains inventory of necessary maintenance equipment and supplies.
• Performs inspections and maintenance on hydraulic and other aerial lifting devices associated with company vehicles.
• Cleans and maintains garage and vehicle maintenance building.
• Operates winch trucks and bucket trucks in order to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs.

Equipment Used:

Company vehicle, Laptop computer, Underground Puller, Tow Motor

Software Used: Microsoft Outlook, Insite Pro, On Command

Education Degrees, Certificates, Licenses, Training:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License
• Class A Commercial Driver's License with a 57 Restriction or the ability to obtain one within 90 Days.
• Additional formal education in motor vehicle and/or hydraulic systems is required.
• Must complete Mobile Hydraulic certification within first 6 months.

Preferred:

• Associates degree in automotive/ diesel technology.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• 2 years of experience in repair and maintenance of all types of cars and trucks.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to use hand tools and operate light equipment, such as chains saw, air compressor, etc.
• Ability to handle several related items at the same time.
• Ability to work with all cooperative employees in the best interest of the Cooperative.
• Must be able to work independently as required.
• Preferred: Experience working with other employees in a team effort. Proficient in reading and understanding technical documents, diagrams, and service manuals.

Working Conditions:

Minimum of ten hours a day, five days a week (subject to change). Erratic working hours and pressure during emergencies or to meet various deadlines. Frequently drives to various work sites and works outside, to include under inclement weather conditions. Work inside will include periodic interruptions and interactions with employees and public.
