Job Summary
Meritus Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Labor & Delivery / LDRP unit. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in labor and delivery, postpartum, and mother-baby care. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and neonatal care.



Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Travel experience not required

Required Certifications

• BLS
• NRP
• FHM
• AWHONN Intermediate or C-EFM preferred

Required Skills & Experience:

Labor & Delivery

• Assist with vaginal deliveries
• Circulate and recover C-sections
• Hemorrhage and shock management
• Sterile vaginal exams
• Fetal monitoring
• Forceps/vacuum extraction
• Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Prostaglandins, and Terbutaline administration

Neonatal & Newborn Care

• APGAR scoring
• Baby Catcher experience
• Newborn assessment and thermoregulation
• Phototherapy
• Infant identification and discharge teaching
• Newborn hypoglycemia management

Antepartum & Postpartum Care

• NST (Non-Stress Tests)
• External/Internal fetal monitoring
• Triage of obstetrical patients
• Breastfeeding and lactation support
• Foley catheter management
• Fundus, lochia, and perineal care
• Wound assessment and postpartum hemorrhage care

Additional Skills

• IV therapy and infusion pumps
• Administration of blood and blood products
• Epidural anesthesia and pain management
• Isolation precautions/PPE
• Vaccine administration

Unit Details

• 32-bed LDRP unit
• Will float to Postpartum and Mother-Baby as needed
• Call requirement: approximately 16–20 hours in a 6-week schedule
