Clinical / Medical Laboratory Scientist - Travel Job

This Clinical Laboratory Scientist position in Shreveport, LA, based at a hospital, performs routine and complex laboratory procedures. The role includes specimen processing, testing patient specimens, calculating and reporting results, performing quality control, operating and maintaining instruments, assisting with new procedures, and performing related duties as directed. The clinician will participate in cross-training across laboratory sections, utilize the Laboratory Information System, and ensure documentation of critical values and compliance with quality programs.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or equivalent laboratory training meeting CLIA requirements.
• Certification as MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS. Certification must be maintained current if time-limited.
• Louisiana state laboratory licensure required.
• New graduates eligible. New graduates must complete board certification within one year of hire (Louisiana excluded).
• No experience required for graduates of an NAACLS-approved clinical laboratory training program. OR one year of approved clinical laboratory experience including clinical rotations in Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids within the last five years.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience operating and troubleshooting clinical laboratory instrumentation.
• Cross-training experience across laboratory sections.
• Experience using a Laboratory Information System.

Assignment Details

• Shift hours: 14:30-03:00.
• Schedule follows a 7 on/7 off rotation consisting of Thursday-Saturday 12-hour shifts (14:30-03:00) and Sunday-Wednesday 10-hour shifts (14:30-01:00).
• No on-call requirement.
