Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) Manager

Position Overview The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) Manager is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of the BHT teams. This role ensures a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment for clients. The BHT Manager provides direct leadership, supervision, coaching, and role-specific training to both BHTs and BHT Supervisors. They are accountable for ensuring staff consistently align with Accanto’s clinical philosophy, programming models, and professional standards. The BHT Manager delivers regular performance feedback, conducts annual evaluations, and fosters ongoing skill development. Additionally, they partner with the Executive/Site Director to manage departmental costs and ensure operations stay within the established budget. Schedule Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monthly weekend on‑call rotation required Compensation Disclosure Starting salary range: $70,000 – $80,000 Final compensation offered will be within the pay range based on qualifications/experience met for the position. Responsibilities Oversees the provision and quality of services delivered by BHT and BHT Supervisors, including groups, meal support, and milieu management. Provides supervision, training, and support to new and existing staff. Provides supervision and oversight to BHT Supervisors. Manages the team by encouraging employee engagement, accountability, and development. Participates in leadership meetings, treatment team, mini team, and morning huddles. Communicates with the clinical team regarding patient needs and behaviors and maintains clinical documentation as needed. Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team of leaders to ensure the program and client goals are met. Participates in the provision of meal support during meals and meal outings, leads milieu activities, transports clients and supervises patient outings, and provides skills coaching when appropriate. Coordinates unit activities and outings and orders related supplies in adherence with site budget. Assists clients in crisis as needed, including providing skills coaching to clients. Facilitates room and common area searches as needed. Plans client outings and corresponding staffing needs. Actively participates in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of BHTs. Demonstrates commitment to clinical, operational, and fiscal responsibilities. Demonstrates excellent clinical customer service using therapeutic communication skills to build strong client relationships and improve outcomes. Attends all required meetings. Completes all assigned mandatory trainings. Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information, trade secrets, sensitive company information, and any information not made public. Maintains confidentiality of former and current clients’ protected health information as directed by state and federal law and company policy, and maintains confidentiality of employee personal information. Drives clients, staff, and supplies in the company vehicle as needed. Education & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, or related field highly preferred and at least 3+ years of healthcare experience in a similar position or related field preferred. Other Qualifications Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites must have a valid driver’s license and be authorized to drive. Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites are required to have a current Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire. Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites are required to have a current First Aid certification within 30 days of hire. Employees at Residential sites in North Carolina or Georgia must have a current CPI certification within 30 days of hire. Employees at Residential site in Washington must have a Washington State Department of Health Food Handler permit within 30 days of hire. Competencies Demonstrates the ability to lead diverse teams with confidence and integrity. Provides effective supervision, mentorship, and performance feedback to BHTs and BHT Supervisors. Promotes a culture of accountability, engagement, and development. Uses de‑escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies appropriately. Provides real‑time skills coaching to clients in distress. Builds positive relationships with staff, clients, and leadership through active listening and empathy. Demonstrates professionalism and therapeutic communication in all interactions. Provides structured onboarding and ongoing training for new and existing BHT staff. Supports the professional growth of direct reports through career pathing and skill‑building initiatives. Effectively manages scheduling, staffing, and time‑keeping processes. Demonstrates sound decision‑making in resource allocation. Works effectively across departments to achieve shared goals. Demonstrates flexibility in managing changing priorities and staffing needs.
