The Associate Dean, College of Nursing & Health Sciences assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines include university policies and procedures, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, and the university academic catalog. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

Job Summary This position is responsible for providing academic advising services to Nursing students.
Responsibilities
- Advises students. (60%)
- Provides academic advisement to students.
- Assists students in development educational and career plans.
- Registers students for classes.
- Assists students with course selection, registration, and schedule revision.
- Monitors and tracks advisee progress.
- Corresponds with students via telephone and email.
- Refers students to campus and community resources.
- Processes drop/add forms, withdrawal forms, registration, name changes, and changes in programs of study.
- Monitors student alerts to provide support for students in need of support.
- Assists students with the transfer process.
- Participates in new student orientation. (10%)
- Participates in new student orientation and registration activities.
- Assists students with initial scheduling and with adjustment to academic life.
- Assists in managing student records. (20%)
- Updates all pre-nursing/nursing folders.
- Prepares nursing student graduation paperwork.
- Assists in reviewing new applications and in making acceptance decisions.
- Performs related duties as assigned. (10%)
