Description

American Traveler is hiring a Radiology Lab Instructor to deliver hands-on laboratory instruction in a radiologic technology program, requiring ARRT certification and teaching hospital experience.

Details

• Onsite position at a medical center campus education department
• 18-month radiologic technology program with small-group laboratory instruction of approximately six students per session
• Facilitates hands-on lab sessions in Introduction to Patient Care and Introduction to Radiography
• May be assigned to one or both lab types based on qualifications and program need
• 30-40 hours per week including class hours and preparation time, with full-time hours available if preferred
• Class schedule includes Monday and Wednesday 9am-12pm and 5:30pm-8:30pm, and Tuesday and Thursday 6:30pm-9:30pm
• Works under the direction of the Program Director and in coordination with the Clinical Coordinator
• Maintains 1:1 student-to-equipment ratio for laboratory practice per JRCERT Standards

Requirements

• Associate's degree in radiologic technology or related field, or equivalent experience/training
• Current, unrestricted ARRT certification and registration in Radiography - R(R)
• Current California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license required if applicable
• Current BLS/CPR certification for healthcare providers
• Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history
• Applied clinical knowledge of radiographic positioning, equipment operation, image production, and patient-care skills
• Knowledge of radiation-safety and patient-safety principles including ALARA, shielding, collimation, infection control, and safe patient handling
• Familiarity with JRCERT Standards applicable to laboratory instruction
• Proficiency with standard office software and learning-management/clinical-tracking platforms
• Full medical clearance required regardless of onsite, hybrid, or remote status

• Demonstrate and supervise energized and non-energized laboratory practice for students
• Reinforce radiation-safety and patient-care principles while evaluating students' skill acquisition using objective, documented criteria
• Maintain a safe, organized, and equitable laboratory environment for small student groups
• Align laboratory activities with didactic content and program learning outcomes
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills required for small-group instruction and student feedback
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
• Floating to a different department, unit, or facility within a 75+ mile radius may be required at any time during the assignment if qualifications are met
• Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed with employment dates, units worked, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
• Two professional references from the most recent employer required at time of consideration
• All requested time off must be disclosed and approved by the manager at time of offer, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract and no time off allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment
