Job Title: Level 4 RN L&D Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Oklahoma or Compact RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE Must-Have: Good written and verbal communication skills Description: The RN will be responsible for assessing patients' clinical conditions. Recognizing, identifying, and interpreting serious situations as they arise. Prioritizing and taking immediate action, such as informing the physician and executing preplanned measures. Formulating nursing diagnoses to provide appropriate care across the lifespan. This includes care for neonates, geriatric patients, medical, surgical, psychiatric, and obstetrical patients. Developing individual care plans by interviewing patients and families. Reviewing health records to determine necessary health and physical care. Including discharge planning in the care plans. The plan reflects any identified cultural, religious, physical, and psychosocial needs. It contains expected outcomes individualized to each patient or situation. Initiating emergency measures when needed, for example, during cardiac or respiratory arrest. Operating and monitoring both general and specialized emergency care equipment. Administering therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician. This includes medications, IV therapy, and respiratory therapy. Documenting patient education in preventive, curative, and rehabilitative measures. Considering patients' and families' learning needs, styles, barriers, and readiness to learn. Recording observations, nursing interventions, and coordinated activities. Evaluating progress toward outcome attainment and updating the care plan as needed. Documenting specific healthcare requirements and preparing assignments for team members. Matching staff skills and abilities to patient care requirements. Planning and coordinating care delivery and documentation. Overseeing patient care administered by licensed practical nurses and unlicensed personnel. Providing guidance and direction to other registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and unlicensed personnel. Sustaining adequate supplies and equipment and ensuring unit upkeep and safety. Maintaining knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice. Promoting professional growth for self and other staff members. Demonstrating positive role model and leadership qualities. Adhering to and promoting professional, ethical, and legal nursing standards. Maintaining positive personal work habits and interpersonal skills. Fostering public relationships with employees, administration, medical staff, patients, and families.
