Registered Nurse (RN) PACU

Performs head-to-toe pre-procedure assessment on all patients and reassesses intra-procedure and post procedure as needed. This includes pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population. Carries out medical and surgical asepsis during treatments and special procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of perioperative factors that alter immediate post-operative phase. Obtains, documents and assesses vital signs and cardio-respiratory systems every five (5) minutes for changes and provides appropriate treatment or care. Identifies physical symptoms and changes and responds appropriately to the patient in an emergency or physically distressful situation. Communicates with Physician and/or Anesthesia of any pertinent changes in a timely manner. Communicates "Hand off" report effectively and thoroughly on the patient's condition upon transfer from PACU to the receiving unit Registered Nurse. Maintains moderate sedation competency.
