New Age Pet Care, a local woman owned business, is hiring! We offer in-home dog walking and pet sitting services to clients throughout the New River Valley. This will be a part-time position starting with 5-20 hours a week, with potential for more hours later on. Ideal for someone looking to make some extra income. Looking for someone with open or flexible availability throughout the day. Visits can start at 7am and end around 9pm. Working holidays and weekends is often necessary as these are busy travel times.

The job will require you to travel to client's homes throughout the NRV and provide high-quality care to people's beloved pets. Our service area covers Radford, Riner, Christiansburg, Blacksburg, & Pulaski.

Duties include;

• Providing daily care for pets, including feeding, walking, and administering medications as needed.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for pets, including cleaning litter boxes and pet messes.
• Engaging with pets through playtime and providing them lots of love and attention.
• Monitoring the health and behavior of pets, reporting any concerns to the owner immediately.
• Following specific instructions provided by pet owners regarding routines, dietary needs, and special requirements.
• Maintaining communication with pet owners through updates and photos during their absence.
• Ensuring that all pet-related supplies are stocked and available for use.
• Occasionally, performing household tasks requested by clients such as bringing in mail, watering plants, etc.

New hires will need to pass a background check and will be required to complete a significant (paid) training period where you will shadow the owner and learn the ins and outs of the job. You will need to complete Dog & Cat First Aid & CPR training and learn what it means to be a Fear-Free pet care provider. Certification costs will be covered.

Pet sitting sounds like a fun & easy job. While I can assure you, it is tons of fun, it is not easy and the responsibilities should not be taken lightly. I am dedicated to providing care that is above and beyond expectations for my clients. You will be in charge of the livelihoods of people's beloved pets and it must be taken seriously.

Pay- $13-15/hour (depending on relevant experience), plus mileage reimbursement & tips.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License.
• Reliable transportation and current car insurance.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Strong animal handling skills and at least 1 year of pet care experience strongly preferred.
• References from past pet sitting clients required (at least 2 references).
• Ability to handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments safely.
• Ability to lift up to 60lbs and walk at least a mile at a time.
• Must be an animal lover with a passion for caring for pets.
• Must have a positive attitude & strong work ethic.
• Must be reliable and punctual.
• Must have excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and coworkers.
• Knowledge of animal behavior and basic training techniques is a plus.
