Effective Dates of Employment: 2026-2027 School Year

Work Schedule: Hours begin generally at 2:15pm + game & practice schedule coverage into evenings + weekends. Schedule will be determined in conjunction with the athletic director according to the student athletic game schedule. For 2 weeks in Mid-August during tryouts, some early morning work hours will be required.

Start Date: ASAP

Salary Range: $65,000-66,500

Organizational Relationship or Line of Authority: Directly responsible to the Athletic Director and Principal and/or the Principals' designee. Must also adhere to directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Marlborough School Committee.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Supporting the athletes by focusing on prevention of athletic injuries, recognition, evaluation and immediate care of athletic injuries, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries, health care administration, and professional development and responsibility as specified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
• Providing instruction and workshops for coaches, athletes, and parents in the area of care and prevention of athletic injuries (i.e., injury prevention, strength and conditioning, CPR certification for coaches and flexibility, strength and conditioning programs for coaches).
• Follow concussion return to play protocol.
• Providing coverage of practices and daily events during the school week according to a schedule created in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
• Covering all home contests for all levels in addition to all away varsity football games and selected post-season games including weekdays, weeknights, and weekends and holidays according to the schedule set in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
• Advising athletes regarding proper maintenance of good health and conditioning.
• Serving as a liaison between physicians, allied health providers, coaches, athletes, and parents while establishing a respectful and professional relationship with them as required.
• Protecting students by ensuring that players participate only when physically able and that any physician's instructions are understood and followed.
• Understanding and observing that this position is responsible for the athletic training room, on-site event coverage and weight-room coverage when necessary. Works and maintains daily hours of operation in athletic training room according to schedule created in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
• Maintaining training room and trainers' office and being responsible for inventory of athletic training supplies, including medical supplies, with approval by the Athletic Director.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment in the athletic training room.
• Maintaining confidential athlete records including accident reports and rehabilitation procedures and provides reports as required to Athletic Director.
• Rendering emergency care to athletes as necessary until transfer of medical responsibility is made to physician or recognized EMS. During school day, works in conjunction with school nurse to ensure proper care of athletes as needed.
• Developing, maintaining, and updating Athletic Emergency Plan in conjunction with Athletic Director.
• Providing water coolers, bottles, cups, and ice for athletic contests.
• Providing flexibility, strength and conditioning and agility training to athletes during the season and off-season.
• Serving as consultant to middle school athletic program.
• Must use mobility, strength, visual and auditory acuity for immediate response to student's needs and rapid response to emergency situations.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the building Principal, Director of Athletics, directives of the Superintendent of schools or his/her designee, and Policies of the Marlborough School Committee.

Qualifications:

• Must have a Massachusetts License as Athletic Trainer and hold certification from the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
• Must maintain current CPR/First Aid and AED Certification.
• Ability to train and work well with students, staff and community members.
• Ability to operate independently as well as a member of a team and can use sound judgement in handling matters with high school students to maintaining a safe physical and emotional environment for all students.
• Must effectively promote and uphold the district's mission, vision, goals, and policies as well as state, local and federal applicable laws, and regulations.
• Must have computer skills including Google or Microsoft Word documents and spreadsheets, have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks, including the ability to prioritize, manage and organize own workload.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
