Licensed Practical Nurse

Overview A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides skilled nursing care tasks and procedures under the direction of an RN, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, physician, or other authorized health care provider. Education & Experience Minimum Required: Graduated from an accredited school of Practical Nursing. License/Certification Minimum Required: Current New York State Practical Nurse License, a Limited Permit, or ability to practice within the 90‑day grace period allowed by New York State guidelines. Preferred: Basic Skills Certifications (CPR). Work Environment Work is performed in an office environment and patient care areas that require working in proximity to other employees and patients. Rooms are air conditioned and heated. Frequent walking, standing, bending, pushing, and lifting. Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions. Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants. PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by UHS Hospitals Infection Control policies. Patient Demographics All Age Groups. HIPAA Responsibilities Roles-Based Access to Patient Information: Clinical – Access to patient information that is not restricted (an example of restricted information is ARU) – Level 3.
