Chief Estimator

Chief Estimator Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the division’s estimating program, providing technical and administrative direction to ensure corporate objectives are met. Key Responsibilities Manage and administer department functions including operating budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, bid results and archives. Implement and maintain corporate estimating procedures using the corporate computer estimating system and database. Assist Executives, Business Development, and Project Management to determine project bid strategies and techniques. Review all final estimate packages for accuracy and completeness prior to formal quotation. Review scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects. Participate in presentations to corporate management and clients. May be responsible for closing the sale. Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required. Assist in the preparation of studies, materials, methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required. Required Qualifications Advanced management or technical training preferred. Organizational, supervisory, and decision‑making/problem‑solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Familiar with modern computer estimating systems. Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and change priorities as necessary. Capable of working under time pressure and adapting to changing requirements with a positive attitude. Effective oral and written communication skills. Self‑motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, and clients. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related business field. Minimum 10 years of experience in facility construction estimating and related functions. Competencies Leadership Financial Awareness Quality Travel & Working Conditions Travel up to 10% or as required. General work environment includes sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending. Work is primarily indoors with standard office lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is usually low to medium, though it can become loud on job sites. Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
