Overview:

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is seeking a Director of Facilities Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for all facility operations, plant operations, engineering services, utilities, infrastructure, and maintenance functions across the hospital campus. This leader will be responsible for ensuring the hospital's physical plant, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, utility, and infrastructure systems are maintained in a safe, reliable, compliant, and operational condition while supporting exceptional patient care and service excellence. The Director will oversee facility operations, capital planning, infrastructure modernization, master facilities planning initiatives, construction and renovation projects, regulatory readiness, emergency preparedness, and environmental safety programs. The Director collaborates closely with hospital and system leadership to develop and execute long-range facility strategies that support organizational growth, operational excellence, and future campus development. This position is responsible for driving high-quality services that meet or exceed customer expectations while supporting hospital, operating center, and system goals. Additionally, the Director provides leadership for team member development, employee engagement, budget management, quality improvement initiatives, human resource compliance, and continuous readiness for local, state, federal, and accrediting agency inspections and surveys.

Education

• Bachelors Degree + 2 years relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of degree

Experience

• Progressive facilities leadership experience with responsibility for complex physical plant operations, building systems, infrastructure, and utilities.
• Healthcare facilities planning experience with knowledge of hospital regulatory, accreditation, life-safety, emergency management, and survey-readiness requirements.
• Demonstrated master facilities planning experience, including development of long-range capital, infrastructure, renovation, and replacement plans.
• Experience leading construction, renovation, major infrastructure, equipment replacement, or campus improvement initiatives in partnership with cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated experience as a change agent with responsibility for quality improvement, human resource compliance, safety, team development, and customer service.
