School Psychologist

Provide psycho-educational services to students with disabilities within local public and nonpublic schools. Assists with the development of plans which enable children to attain achievement standards and independent skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct diagnostic evaluations to identify students' needs, potential, and limitations
• Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team for students undergoing an evaluation
• Provides diagnostic information to assist students to achieve personal, academic, social, and emotional growth
• Refers individuals to community agencies to secure medical, vocational, mental health or social services
• Provides ongoing professional development for school and community when requested
• Completes all education reports and paperwork accurately according to regulations and procedures within the required time line
• Collaborates with school personnel on Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Improvement Plan (BIP) as needed
• Serves as a resource and makes recommendations to school personnel pertaining to the management of pupils in the school environment
• Follows and informs others of IDEA, Article 7 rules, regulations, as well as policies and procedures outlined by the building principals and Griffith Public Schools
• Provides building wide or individual crisis interventions when needed or requested
• Attends all appropriate diagnostic staff meetings at the building and district level
• Performs other duties as assigned or required through the students' IEP needs

Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Educational or School Psychology with a successful school psychology internship
• Hold and maintain current licensure as School Psychologist in the State of Indiana
• Knowledge in the areas of autism, emotional disorders, and behavioral intervention techniques and plans
• Possess a basic knowledge of special education laws, regulations and can follow developed procedures
• Desire to continue career improvement

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Requires prolonged sitting or standing
• Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials
• Occasional stooping, bending and reaching
• Must work indoors and outdoors year-round
• Must work in noisy and crowded environments
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
• Work is generally performed indoors
• The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation
