Utilities Engineer We are seeking a Utilities Engineer to provide day‑to‑day support for the design, maintenance and operation of electrical utility production and distribution systems. Qualifications Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university. Five years of experience in design, maintenance, or operation of electrical power systems. Required Licenses and Certifications Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. EIT Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Familiarity with principles of electrical distribution systems, SCADA, relaying & controls, medium voltage equipment and testing, and system modeling. Ability to multi‑task and work cooperatively with others. Preferred Qualifications Academic emphasis in power distribution and control systems. Experience maintaining automated building operation control systems on a multi‑facility campus or university. Experience in air and water balance of HVAC systems. Professional Engineer certification. Responsibilities Monitor and analyze plant systems, initiate actions for optimization, and participate in process improvement to meet safety, productivity, and efficiency goals. This may require driving a university vehicle to various plant facilities. Serve as a technical resource for capital projects, process evaluation, and equipment modification, managing contractors and coordinating maintenance staff during installations. Maintain logic and PLC programs, install switches, and perform network maintenance as needed. Perform analysis, detailed design, capital request preparation, installation, startup, checkout, debugging, and cost control of assigned projects. Contribute to a safe work environment by reporting accidents, using proper personal protective equipment, following safety procedures, and participating in safety training. Provide professional, solutions‑oriented customer service internally and externally.
