ELECTRICIAN

The Stockton Port District is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Electrician. This is a Journeyman-level classification, which under general supervision performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnostic work on a variety of electrical equipment, including cranes. Effective July 1, 2026 the hourly rate for this position will be $44.53. Examples of Duties Inspects, maintains, repairs, installs, and tests AC and DC electrical systems and equipment, including electrical circuits, transformers, switches, light fixtures, 3 phase motor control systems up to 480v, motors, generators, outlets, control panels, CCTV cameras and communication networks. Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Installs conduit and pull wire for motors, control panels, light fixtures, and outlets. May perform cable splices of varying complexity including fiber optics. Provides cost estimates for labor, material, and supplies required to perform a specific assignment. Performs phase balancing operations and load computations on a variety of electrical circuits. Performs other duties as assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience working with different kinds of electrical devices and systems with a high level of responsibility and attention to safety precautions. Certificates and Licenses Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license and be insurable under the Port’s liability policy or provide other insurance acceptable to the Port.
