PacAero’s core businesses include an array of electronic connectors and housings for the world’s most extreme environments. PacAero is primarily located in Wenatchee, WA with a remote manufacturing site, Bonded Metals, located in Sequim, WA. Working together, we employ proprietary technologies, best practices engineering, and specialized manufacturing techniques to produce hermetic connectors and electronic packaging that perform in the world’s most extreme environments. PacAero’s products are hard at work in medical components, such as cardiac-function devices, on key aerospace & defense programs, in space and deep below the earth's surface.

The Position:

Job Summary

Process Engineers at PacAero Wenatchee are relied upon as a Subject Matter Experts (SME) and technical solution provider for the manufacturing processes critical to our success. Under the guidance and support of the Process Engineering Manager, while supporting a collaborative and positive working environment companywide, they are creative problem-solvers provided the freedom to ensure safety and develop the optimal balance of ergonomic, data driven technical and economic factors to maximize first-pass yield, minimizing rework and attrition within their area of focus.

High ethical standards, transparency and honesty are of core importance to the successful candidate. Additionally, they are punctual, organized, detail oriented, methodical thinkers where the scientific approach is second nature. They work well independently while also being excellent communicators understanding the best, most effective, solutions that come from soliciting input from experienced process operators, technicians, and engineering colleagues before implementation.

They will conduct continuous process improvement analysis and improvement efforts to attain year-over-year reduction in attrition and improvements in first pass yield while achieving our customer partner and PacAero performance requirements.

Schedule: Mon-Fri, 6:00am to 2:30pm

Process Engineer I Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily:

• General: Dependably and reliably works independently with minimal supervision in performing required tasks while maintaining strong independent thinking, follows instructions and management direction, retains information, possess legible handwriting, effectively communicates process improvements with direct management, and takes ownership of decision and assigned process.
• Agile Support Collaboration: Ability to effectively work within multi-functional teams that span the entirety of PacAero to successfully achieve performance targets. Effectively communicating with, and supporting, production personnel is a must, offering help as and when needed.
• Problem-Solving: Teaming with senior manufacturing, quality and process engineers, apply your strong root-cause investigation and analysis skills in identifying and separating variables, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing accurate conclusions to determine effective corrective actions towards solving production process based technical challenges.
• Process Development: Assisted by fellow manufacturing, quality and process engineers, after reviewing project objectives, identify and drive design, tool, and applicable testing requirements, create and manage design of experiments (DOE) to test critical process variables in support of process development and optimization towards highest process performance while achieving product quality requirements.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documents and files essential to support repeatable and reliable production through process including accurate cost estimating and process reporting toward FDA regulatory submissions and required military contract deliverables.
• Performance Analysis: Perform analysis of targeted products to determine and implement best course actions toward maximizing first pass yield (FPY), reducing both cost of poor quality (CoPQ), and total processing time.
• Prototype to LRIP Transition: Team with our product development engineers in transferring new leading-edge products from prototype to LRIP.

Requirements

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essentials functions.

• Communication: Strong communication skills, both internal and external. Fluent in speaking, reading and writing the English language required. Support company/management decisions.
• Productivity/IT Systems: Microsoft Office Suite specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Teams proficiency, including CAD (Solidworks preferred) with PLM, and ERP (ABAS preferred) systems.
• Design and Quality: Proficiency in SolidWorks and statistical tools like Minitab. Strong knowledge and understanding of technical drawings.
• Materials: Strong knowledge and understanding of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys, including but not limited to glasses, ceramics, and thermoplastics.
• Process: Strong knowledge and understanding of precision machining, electro-plating, laser welding, glass-sealing, ceramic sealing, soldering, and vacuum brazing.
• Regulatory: Knowledge and understanding of military and industry standards, specifications, quality and safety requirements (MIL-STD, IEEE, ASTM, etc.). Advise management of policy violations.
• Reasoning: Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

• B/S or M/S degree from an accredited university in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related STEM field or proven related experience in lieu of a specific degree demonstrated through a robust portfolio.
• Preferred:
• Requirements plus 4+years of applicable experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in product/process development for manufacturing of precision aerospace/defense assembles, and/or implantable medical devices.

Work Environment

• Noise: Production operational areas vary in noise levels. Hearing protection may be required.
• Safety hazards: Exposure to high-temperature ovens/parts, extreme low-temperature freezers, powerful fast-moving machines, near infrared light, chemicals, and sharp tools vary based on production operational areas.
• Contaminants: Exposure to airborne particulate like metal dust, solder smoke, and chemical fumes necessitating adequate ventilation and protective measures to minimize health risks vary based on production operational areas.
• Protective gear: Personal protective equipment (PPE) is a requirement for safety, including eye, hearing, and breathing protection, and glove use.
• Work shift: Five 8(hrs.) days, typically Monday through Friday starting at 6:00am, though actual start time to be determined by manager at time of hire. Overtime is not uncommon within this position.

Physical Requirements:

• Standing/Sitting: Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
• Manual dexterity: Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination are necessary for manipulating tools and performing precise measurements with a Microscope.
• Precision and vision: Specific vision ability to have natural or corrected near distance acuity in at least one eye. Capable of passing the Jaeger Number 2 test and a color vision test.
• Stamina: Physical stamina is required for the duration of a shift to perform all duties of the job.
