Registered Nurse (S)

Murdoch Developmental Center (MDC) is currently recruiting Registered Nurses for multiple positions on 1st shift. The primary purpose of this position is to provide professional nursing care. This RN provides evaluation, assessment, and assures coordination and implementation of care delivery. This RN acts as charge nurse when assigned, provides clinical services and consultation including medication and treatment administration, MD/Professional contacts, & care planning for health needs. All employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Recruitment Range: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00

A Sign-on bonus of $10,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina or in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. See the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) website for a list of participating states

Successful candidate must be able to pass Healthcare Provider CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) written and physical requirements as a condition of employment. Successful candidate must have a valid Driver License.

Scheduled work hours: 1st shift, 6:30am – 3:00pm, 5 days/week, with rotating weekends.

• 6:30am-3pm (8 hour)
• 6:30am- 5pm (10 hour)
• 6:30 am-7pm (12 hour) 36/48 alternating weeks

Murdoch is currently recruiting for a variety of full-time permanent positions in multiple cottages. We offer flexible shifts and pay additions for hours worked:

• 1st 6:30am-3pm 10% Weekend Only
• 2nd 2:30pm-11pm 15% Weekday & 25% Weekend
• 3rd 10:45pm-6:45am 20% Weekday & 30% Weekend

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

• The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
• The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
• DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

MDC is one of three regional developmental centers operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). MDC in Butner serves 25 counties in central NC. Murdoch has approximately 1600 employees providing residential services and supports to people with IDD, complex behavioral challenges and/or medical conditions whose clinical treatment needs exceed the level of care available in the community. In addition to regional admissions for adults, MDC operates four statewide programs, which include support for children and adolescents with complex needs.
