Machine Operator Laser Production

This role focuses on operating laser equipment to produce high-quality medical products, including biowearable sensors such as glucose monitors, wound care items like bandages, and devices used for diagnostic purposes. You will work with multiple types of machines and are expected to be open to cross-training across different equipment and processes to support a fast-paced, precision-driven manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate laser and related production machines to manufacture medical products according to established procedures and specifications.
• Run production cycles on assigned machines, ensuring proper setup, operation, and completion of each cycle.
• Inspect parts as they come off the machines, using tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and quality.
• Perform tests on parts to confirm they meet required performance and quality standards.
• Package finished items accurately and securely, following documented packaging guidelines.
• Document production information manually and digitally, maintaining accurate records of runs, inspections, and test results.
• Follow standard operating procedures and quality guidelines to support consistent, reliable production.
• Participate in cross-training on different machines and processes to increase flexibility and support team coverage.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle equipment with care to support a safe, efficient workspace.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate any equipment, quality, or process issues promptly.

Essential Skills

• Experience in machine operation, production, or laser operation, with a preference for candidates who have at least 6 months of manufacturing experience in machine operating, mechanical work, or medical assembly.
• Mechanical inclination and comfort working with tools, machinery, and production equipment.
• High attention to detail when inspecting parts and documenting information.
• Ability to perform assembly, packaging, machine operating, and inspection tasks in a production environment.
• Proficiency using measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify product specifications.
• Capability to follow written and digital work instructions accurately.
• Consistent work history demonstrating reliability and commitment.
• Willingness to work the assigned shift schedule and adapt to cross-training on different machines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Entry-level candidates are welcome if they are mechanically inclined and have a stable, consistent work history.
• Prior experience in medical device manufacturing, assembly, or related production environments is a plus.
• Comfort working in a smaller team environment with close collaboration.
• Ability to thrive in a louder production setting while maintaining focus and accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills for managing documentation and packaging tasks.

Work Environment

The role is based in a smaller production facility with close-knit teams. First shift typically has about 1520 people, second shift operates with around 5 people, and third shift with approximately 34 people, allowing for a more personal and collaborative atmosphere. This position is on second shift, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The environment is fairly loud due to production equipment, but team members may wear one earbud to listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks while working. Employees wear lab coats and hair nets as part of standard attire, although the space is not a full clean room. Work involves operating laser and other production machines, inspecting parts with micrometers and calipers, and handling packaging tasks in a structured, safety-conscious setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hudson, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.43 - $22.43/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
