Details Night shift schedule, 3x12‑hour shifts (19:00–07:30) Clinician may sign for 36 or 48 hours per week Patient ratio of 1:2 Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds ICU unit serves a diverse patient population including pre‑ and post‑op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgery patients, medicine and neuro‑medicine overflow, pre‑ and post‑transplant, and end‑of‑life/organ donation cases Common patient diagnoses include respiratory failure/ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi‑organ failure, and sepsis Specialized equipment includes IV pumps/titration, CRRT/dialysis, ventilator/BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillator/crash cart Charting via Epic; prior Epic experience required Every other weekend required Floating within service line to other ICU units required to meet facility needs No on‑call requirements 13‑week contract with option to extend beyond 13 weeks Requirements Active MO RN license or compact RN license required at time of consideration; IL pending license may be accepted with notation Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required Experience in both Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Unit settings required Epic EMR experience required Required clinical skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management, 12‑lead EKG/ECG acquisition, CVP and pulmonary artery (Swan‑Ganz) monitoring, arterial line management, CRRT/chronic and acute renal failure management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVA/acute stroke management, BiPAP management, ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, phlebotomy, surgical wound and wound vac care, and infection prevention/PPE use First‑time travelers are not eligible for this position Additional Information Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13‑week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation Navy scrubs required Monthly parking passes are available through Public Safety Travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3‑month break in service is required before returning Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler Block scheduling is not available for this position Benefits Premium medical, dental, vision and life insurance beginning day one Generous 401(k) match Substantial housing stipends American Traveler Job ID #P-717270.
