Our teams deliver the capabilities, standards, and tools that help the enterprise operate securely, efficiently, and at scale.Your Impact:Provide senior technical leadership to a maturing cloud platform team by establishing reusable patterns, reference architectures, automation, and implementation standards.Design self-service and self-healing platform capabilities that reduce manual intervention, ticket-driven support, operational delays, and recurring resiliency issues.Deliver AWS-native automation, serverless patterns, infrastructure as code, and code artifacts that create repeatable platform outcomes.Advance AIOps, GenAI, and intelligent automation across cloud databases, shared platform services, observability, and developer enablement capabilities.Establish engineering guardrails and operational patterns that improve reliability, scalability, security, compliance, and speed of delivery.Serve as an independent technical voice, challenging assumptions and defending architecture decisions with clear reasoning, evidence, and practical implementation.Represent engineering in leadership forums, contributing to roadmap planning, investment decisions, technology governance, and platform modernization strategy.Qualifications:10+ years of related engineering, platform, or cloud technology experience; bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.Deep AWS experience across cloud architecture, serverless services, scalable infrastructure, observability, and secure, resilient platform design.Strong hands-on proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation/SAM, AWS CDK) and modern automation/scripting languages (Python, TypeScript/Node.js, Bash, SQL), with proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines.Working knowledge of cloud data platform technologies — including NoSQL and document databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB/DocumentDB), event streaming (e.g., Kafka/MSK, Kinesis), and emerging AI/GenAI services (e.g., Amazon Q, Bedrock) — with the ability to integrate them into secure, scalable platform solutions.Experience transitioning hosted, COTS, or vendor-managed capabilities toward AWS-native, serverless, event-driven, or cloud-native service patterns where appropriate.Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, microservices, containers, Kubernetes, Docker, and related cloud-native technologies.Proven ability to research, prototype, and deliver solutions independently while creating reusable assets that improve team maturity and execution consistency.Strong enterprise technology judgment, including security, compliance, governance, resiliency, data infrastructure, and hybrid or multi-cloud deployment considerations.Key to Success in this roleOperates independently, moving from strategy to implementation without heavy direction.Makes defensible architecture tradeoffs across scalability, resilience, security, cost, compliance, and operability.Influences highly opinionated technical stakeholders through prototypes, data, clear reasoning, and credible hands-on execution.Elevates engineering teams through mentoring, design reviews, standards, and reusable assets.Applies a platform-as-product mindset, treating internal platform capabilities as customer-focused products with clear adoption, usability, reliability, and value outcomes.Communicates complex platform concepts clearly across engineering, product, security, risk, and leadership teams.Current Freddie Mac employees please apply through the internal career site.We consider all applicants for all positions without regard to gender, race, color, religion, national origin, age, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, physical and mental disability, pregnancy, ethnicity, genetic information or any other protected categories under applicable federal, state or local laws. This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $161,000 - $241,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program.
