Registered Nurse (RN) Shift Supervisor - ER

Summary This position is part of the departmental leadership team that provides clinical supervision on a shift basis including: coordination and assignment of patient care; functions as a unit patient flow coordinator, facilitating admissions, discharges and transfers; coordinates unit staffing for next shift with the Director/Clinical Manager, Coordinator and/or House Officer; serves as a clinical and leadership resource and role model for the staff; provides supervisory input into department staff evaluations and performance reviews. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited school of nursingPREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelors or Masters Degree in Nursing or advanced degree in a related field

Experience:

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year in an equivalent unitPREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 4 years in an equivalent unit

Certifications:

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State License for Registered NursePREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: National Specialty CertificationMust have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role for all Surgical Services areas.AHA PALS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role for Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
