Field Service Technician

On-Site Technician

As a technician who works on-site, you will be tasked with the installation, upkeep, and repair of automated systems and equipment. This position requires a solid grasp of mechanical, electrical, and automation technology to ensure efficient operation and minimal downtime. The goal is to carry out work at the lowest cost possible while maintaining quality, adhering to design standards, and meeting deadlines.

Essential Responsibilities

• Set up and configure new automated machinery to ensure they meet performance standards.
• Identify and resolve issues with automated systems, ranging from mechanical to software problems.
• Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance to keep machinery running smoothly.
• Collaborate with engineers to understand project requirements and offer technical support.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and system performance.
• Train other technicians and operators on products, processes, and equipment.
• Communicate problems to supervisors or purchasing agents promptly.
• Anticipate requirements and obtain necessary components based on historical knowledge and the production schedule.
• Work collaboratively with a team to maximize productivity and quality.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Be consistently present and punctual; accurately record job times.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply knowledge gained from Lean training in job tasks.
• Participate in job reviews as necessary.
• Adhere to company policies, safety procedures, and security protocols.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Proficiency in programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Effective presentation and response to queries from managers and customers.
• Efficient management of schedules to meet service call deadlines.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally for customer visits.
• Valid driver's license and US passport required.

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts. Moderate noise levels in the work environment.

Physical Demands

Regular use of hands for various tasks. Ability to use hands, arms, talk, hear, walk, stand, sit, occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel. Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds. Good vision and eye-hand coordination required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This full-time position typically requires work hours from Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on-site. Schedule may vary for service calls, and overtime is needed as per the department managers direction.
