Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Telemetry

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Cardiac Telemetry. This role involves providing high-quality care to cardiac and stroke patients in a fast-paced environment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes during their hospital stay.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for pre and post-procedure cardiac patients, including those undergoing pacemaker implantation and cardiac catheterization.
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips, including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone, according to established protocols.
• Monitor and manage patients with unstable angina, chest pain, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA, and TIA.
• Utilize telemetry and pulse oximetry systems for patient monitoring.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Manage patient admissions and discharges efficiently.
• Demonstrate proficiency in IV start and maintenance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a challenging, high-acuity cardiac telemetry unit.
• Traveler experience is acceptable, including first-time travelers.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BCLS, and NIH.
• Ability to take on patient assignments with ratios of 1:5-6, with potential fluctuations based on unit needs.

Unit Details

• This unit is the primary cardiac and stroke unit, turning over 78 to 90 patients per week.
• Experience working with COVID-positive patients in a telemetry setting is essential, particularly with the use of Opti-flow and BiPAP during surges.
• High-flow oxygen management is required, conditions permitting.

Schedule

• Night shift, working 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Rotation includes every other weekend and two Mondays and two Fridays in a six-week period.

Additional Information

• Self-scheduling is implemented with oversight from leadership to maintain balance.
• Orientation will be 36 hours, with a requirement for travelers to be available every day during the first week for hospital orientation.
• Scrubs should be navy blue or white, and specific uniform guidelines must be followed.
