This role involves setting up and operating press brake machines, including CNC brakes, to bend, form, and shape metal components according to blueprints and specifications. The Brake Press Operator ensures parts meet quality standards, maintains safe and efficient production, and supports continuous workflow in a busy metal fabrication environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press brake machines, including CNC brakes, to bend and form metal components according to job requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders to determine machine setup, tooling selection, and sequence of operations.
- Select, install, and align appropriate dies and tooling for each job to achieve accurate bends and forms.
- Measure and inspect parts using calipers, gauges, templates, and other precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform in-process and final quality checks to ensure finished products meet all specifications and standards.
- Make necessary program adjustments on CNC brakes and troubleshoot issues that lead to scrap, defects, or production delays.
- Maintain equipment and tooling by performing basic upkeep and reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards to support efficient workflow and safety.
- Follow all safety procedures, plant rules, and manufacturing best practices at all times.
- Prioritize and sequence production runs to meet deadlines, output targets, and customer requirements.
- Work collaboratively with production team members and supervisors to resolve issues and maintain steady production flow.
Essential Skills
- Previous experience operating a press brake or similar production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders accurately.
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and templates.
- Basic math skills, including calculations involving angles, dimensions, and bend lines.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and quality.
- Capability to stand for long periods and lift materials as needed in an industrial setting.
- Commitment to following safety procedures and manufacturing best practices.
- Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift with flexibility within posted hours.
- Use of steel toe boots as required personal protective equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating CNC press brakes or similar CNC-controlled equipment.
- Ability to build, modify, or adjust CNC programs for press brake operations.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to machine setup, scrap reduction, and process improvement.
- Experience working with production monitors or ERP systems, with familiarity in Epicor considered a plus.
- General manufacturing, production, and machine operation experience, including general labor tasks in a metal fabrication setting.

Work Environment
The role is based in an industrial manufacturing environment focused on metal fabrication. Team members work around press brakes and other production equipment, standing for extended periods and handling metal materials as needed. The facility includes air conditioning and heaters, but conditions may not always be fully climate controlled. Personal protective equipment is required at all times, including steel toe boots and any additional PPE provided by the employer. Work is performed on 1st and 2nd shifts, with typical hours for 1st shift around 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 2nd shift around 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., supporting a structured yet fast-paced production environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denton, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
