SCC is seeking a full time Sports Information Specialist . This role involves writing press releases, maintaining statistics and records, updating the athletic department's website and social media, and coordinating interviews with coaches and athletes. They act as the key communication link between the sports program and various areas of the public, including the media, fans, and the institution itself.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary: Media relations: Serve as the point of contact for media requests, write press releases, and facilitate interviews. Content creation: Produce publications like media guides, game notes, and game programs. Information management: Maintain official statistics, team records, and historical data. Digital presence: Update and manage the content on the team's athletics website and social media accounts. Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Maintains competency of current college policies and procedures and can answer general questions. Helps to ensure the department's overall success by performing related duties as assigned. Ability to understand and follow college policies, guidelines, and procedures in order to meet organizational directives and goals. Must be able to communicate in a positive and effective manner with diverse, multicultural stakeholders/constituents, and students. Other duties as assigned Administrative: Fill in administrative assistant duties as needed. Responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the office and department. Supports manager and employees through a variety of tasks related to the college by answering questions and responding to requests, receiving, and directing visitors, staff, students, and faculty. Interacts with people in a professional, open, honest, and welcoming manner supporting the mission and goals of the college. Self-motivated with good organizational and problem-solving skills. Assists assigned administrator in accomplishing various tasks, including organizing meetings, compiling agendas, distributing materials, monitoring budgets and producing and maintaining reports. Organizes functions and activities promoted by the program area. Collects, researches, compiles, analyzes, verifies, summarizes, records, and evaluates information; prepares and distributes narrative, statistical, and financial data on behalf of administration. Other duties, as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years' athletic department experience at the collegiate level is essential. Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations and experience with intercollegiate athletics is preferred. Knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of sports in a community college setting is essential. This position requires strong interpersonal/human relations skills and must possess verbal and written communication skills. This position must possess planning and organizational skills along with report preparation and supervisory skills. This position must have the ability to learn and apply institutional policies and procedures, and the ability to maintain high level of confidentiality, professionalism and trustworthiness.
