Summary The Leader in Training (LIT) and Floor Leader position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: “To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The LIT and Floor Leader performs a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Works directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates and provide leadership. Compensation & Benefits Pay range: $15‑$17/hr. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job‑related reasons. For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales. The range listed is the estimated base rate plus commission for teammates in this position. Paid leave accrues where required by law; one hour of leave is accrued for every 30 hours worked. Sales Generation and Guest Service Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and consistently provide legendary service. Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise. Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guest needs. Anticipate and fulfill guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience. Demonstrate product utilizing product knowledge and sales education, consistently sharing that knowledge with the team. Maintain and share knowledge of current sales and promotions, payment policies, exchanges, and security practices. Maintain personal sales, and achieve sales‑per‑hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by store management. Provide legendary service throughout the store in front‑five, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area. Know all exchange and return procedures and use them to create show‑making opportunities. Fill out and effectively use the Sales Presentation Guide daily to accomplish goals. Meet or exceed performance standards in all Buckle business builders and guest loyalty. Investigate and navigate how to expand guest selection with inventory manager and technology tools. Build good guest relationships to develop a client‑based business. Lead by example with show‑making, excellent customer service, and attentiveness. Recognize and communicate guest levels with the team. Ask business‑driven and show‑making questions to managers, team leaders, and teammates. Be coachable and allow manager to educate on sales presentation. Consistently perform leadership actions and maintain high standards, whether or not the manager is present. Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development Recognize recruiting opportunities via Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals, and teammate recommend. Develop skills and assist in leading, directing, motivating, and educating new teammates to meet Buckle’s accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention, and sales presentation standards daily. Maintain a positive attitude to create a positive floor culture. Demonstrate personal dress code to coach teammates and team leaders. Participate effectively in daily setup, training, impacting, and reviewing while utilizing the Performance Tracker. Motivate teammates to initiate and complete daily tasks. Demonstrate, coach, and influence results of denim show‑making and denim fit cards. Create and develop results in your department and balance all DM actions, completing mid‑week check‑ins. Demonstrate leadership actions during segment: awareness of guests, involve them in products, be vocal, update fellow leaders, handle guest names, and work both sides of the shop for the benefit of teammates and guests. Visual Merchandise Management Own and influence product through zone ownership: product knowledge, placement, passion, preference, weekly checklist, life cycle of product, track results. Assign zones and projects to teammates daily with specific learning goals. Ensure teammates follow visual standards, visual library, and weekly visual checklist with accountability. Execute and demonstrate new tools and videos that apply to zone ownership. Recognize merchandising opportunities from freight to floor and life cycle of product, and communicate recommendations to store manager. Give informative and influential store tours, ensuring the sales floor is consistently sized and new freight displayed. Operations Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and day after Thanksgiving and Christmas. Use the planner and complete opening and closing checklists. Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations. Follow all loss prevention guidelines, including daily bag and purse checks. Execute and teach all POS procedures. Handle calls from corporate office appropriately. Know Buckle guidelines for returns and exchanges. Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with challenging situations. Understand and execute all policies regarding payments, exchanges and loss prevention. Navigate and execute all tools on the home page. Provide guidance and feedback to all non‑sales positions. Complete all scheduled shifts and cover shifts when needed. Provide feedback to store manager and leadership team regarding merchandise handling concerns. Communicate policy violations and concerns to store management and HR confidentially. Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store to fulfill Buckle’s mission. Understand and apply Buckle’s code of ethics and all policies, procedures, and handbooks. Supervisory and Leadership Comfortable giving and receiving feedback from peers and management. Supportive of leadership. Promote personal and store growth. Maintain professional, mature, and stable relationships with all teammates. Contribute to a positive team spirit while fulfilling mission statement. Handle special projects and other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Education And/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related retail experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
