Salary range: $50,000 - $70,000

Location: Remote with occasional in-person time. Preference will be given to candidates able to work Pacific or Mountain time.

OVERVIEW:

Greenlight America is the leading grassroots campaign force powering the nation’s clean energy transition at the local level. Founded in 2023, we educate, empower, and mobilize volunteers to make their voices heard and win permitting approvals for clean energy projects in their communities. In the past two years we have advanced more than 20 gigawatts of clean power to the grid, approximately 10x the size of the Hoover Dam.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Research Analysts play a central role in Greenlight’s research and campaigns work, including identifying, evaluating, and utilizing data and information sources; writing research briefs, reports, and other materials; and strategic analysis to support campaigns. A successful candidate for this position will be a skilled researcher with a keen interest in learning new things, as well as an excellent writer and communicator. They will be highly creative, curious, and persistent in finding the answers to questions and exhibit strong attention to detail. The position is remote and reports to the Senior Manager, Campaign Research.

PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identify clean energy projects and ordinances that will require local approvals by reviewing and analyzing public information, large datasets such as interconnection queue data, local government notices and agendas, news reports, developer websites, and other government documents.
• Perform research and write briefs, memos, and reports on campaign opportunities, decision-makers, jurisdictions and communities, using established templates and procedures.
• Research and analyze legal and regulatory frameworks at the local and state level to explain project approval processes and their impact on clean energy deployment across multiple jurisdictions.
• Work closely with Greenlight’s research, campaigns, communications, and partnership staff to develop research products that meet strategic needs and advance organizational priorities.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

We are especially interested in candidates with the following qualifications:

• Demonstrated skill in identifying and using information sources in new research areas, including places with limited published information
• Demonstrated skill in summarizing and presenting data and technical information in a user-friendly manner
• Ability to rapidly develop knowledge and expertise on new topic areas
• Demonstrate curiosity and persistence in finding the answers to questions
• Willingness to think creatively, take risks, objectively evaluate results, and iterate
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Passion for accelerating the clean energy transition

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The base annual salary for this position is $50,000-$70,000. We offer an excellent benefits package which includes 100% employer paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance, unlimited paid time off, monthly technology stipend, and retirement contributions through 401k and Roth plans.
