About the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN)
Founded in 2005, the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) provides patients with the critical information and community support they need to thrive today – and champions innovative research and responsive national policy to inspire hope for tomorrow.
BCAN offers vital resources to bladder cancer patients, caregivers, survivors and the medical community, including a comprehensive website, biannual in-person summits, webinars, podcasts, print publications, and its Survivor-to-Survivor program. Additionally, we collaborate with medical and research professionals to advance the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of bladder cancer.
Position Overview
The Education & Clinical Engagement Senior Manager is a key member of BCAN’s Education & Advocacy team, responsible for supporting patient-centered education initiatives, strengthening engagement with the clinical community, and assisting individuals and families as they navigate bladder cancer care.
This role manages the development of trusted, accessible educational resources; coordinates impactful educational programming; builds meaningful relationships with healthcare providers—particularly in community settings; and serves as a direct resource to patients and caregivers seeking information and support.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, organized, and compassionate professional who is comfortable managing multiple projects, building partnerships, translating insights into action, and providing direct patient-centered support.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports and reports to the Director of Education & Advocacy. The Senior Manager will work collaboratively with BCAN staff and external stakeholders to advance BCAN’s education and advocacy priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Please note that this overview may not fully encompass all possible duties, as the work may evolve in response to community needs and organizational priorities.
Patient Education, Programming & Navigation (30%)
· Manage the development, maintenance, and distribution of BCAN’s core educational resources, including Bladder Cancer Basics, print and digital materials, and other patient-facing tools, ensuring all content is accurate, current, and aligned with BCAN’s voice, branding, and health literacy standards.
· Partner with clinicians, researchers, and patient advocates to develop patient-centered educational materials and identify resource gaps across the bladder cancer journey, with a focus on emerging and underserved populations at risk for bladder cancer, including young adults, veterans, and other special populations.
· Collaborate with the Director and team members to plan, execute, and evaluate educational programming, including webinars, virtual events, and other learning opportunities, from topic development through delivery.
· Manage speaker bureaus and other educational outreach initiatives to expand awareness and engagement.
· Respond to patient and caregiver inquiries with timely, compassionate support, providing education and navigation assistance throughout the bladder cancer journey.
Clinical Engagement & Partnerships (30%)
· Expand awareness and utilization of BCAN resources among healthcare providers, particularly in community-based settings, by building and maintaining strong relationships with urologists, medical oncologists, nurses, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and allied health professionals.
· Support and strengthen engagement with the clinical and APP communities by identifying educational needs and co-developing targeted resources, programming, and professional development opportunities.
· Identify opportunities to integrate BCAN educational materials and patient resources into clinical workflows and care settings to advance patient-centered bladder cancer care.
· Coordinate multi-stakeholder workgroups and task forces by scheduling meetings, facilitating communication, and supporting initiatives such as BCAN’s Survivorship Task Force and Patient Research Advocate programs.
· Build relationships with community urologists, state urological associations, professional membership organizations, (e.g., LUGPA, SUNA, WOCN, SUO, ACCC, and ACOG) to increase BCAN’s visibility and profile within the clinical community.

- Manage and support patient research initiatives, including surveys, focus groups, and other efforts to gather patient perspectives and insights.
- Coordinate advisory boards and other forums where the patient voice can inform clinical education and program development.
- Support education and advocacy initiatives within BCAN’s Think Tank and related workgroups.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to advance shared priorities across research, education, and advocacy.
- Uphold best practices in patient engagement, confidentiality, and data integrity.

- Strong understanding of oncology or urology; bladder cancer experience strongly preferred.
