Job Summary:
The Level 3 Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department (ER) provides expert nursing care in a fast-paced, high-volume adult trauma center. This role involves managing a diverse patient population, including boarder patients, in a Level I trauma hospital setting. The nurse is expected to deliver skilled emergency care, utilize telemetry monitoring, and collaborate effectively within the interdisciplinary team. Prior travel ER experience and strong certification credentials are required for success in this position. Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care to adult patients in a busy emergency department.
- Manage telemetry monitoring and interpret related data for patient care decisions.
- Assist with the care of boarder patients within the ER setting.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide critical interventions as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and clinical observations.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York State (NY License ONLY).
- Minimum of two (2) years of emergency department nursing experience.
- Telemetry experience with at least two (2) years demonstrated proficiency.
- Previous travel ER nursing experience.
- American Heart Association BLS certification.
- American Heart Association ACLS certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Experience working in a Level I trauma center environment.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as EPIC in an emergency setting.
- Must be able to work rotating day, evening, and night shifts.
- Availability for floating, weekends, holidays, on-call, callback, and charge nurse responsibilities as unit needs dictate.
- ER environment does not support first-time travelers; prior ER travel experience is mandatory.
- Work 36 or 48 hours per week on a rotating schedule including day, evening, and night shifts.
- Shift assignments are based on departmental needs and may include floating and charge nurse duties.
