Human Resources Business Partner

At Lightspeed Systems, we protect students and empower schools. We give district leaders the visibility and control they need to keep learning safe, secure, and effective – and we need an HR Business Partner who can roll up their sleeves, build scalable people practices, and show up as a true strategic partner to our Sales and Marketing teams. NOTE: This position is hybrid and requires several days onsite each week at our Austin, Texas headquarters. Sponsorship is not available for this position. What You'll Do Own the HRBP relationship for both departments—sitting at the table with leaders, understanding their goals, and ensuring people practices support those goals. Support the full employee lifecycle from job posting to exit interview, including stay interviews, employee‑relations issues, and building a culture people want to stay in. Identify inefficiencies in HR workflows and fix them—automating onboarding steps, improving offboarding, and designing repeatable performance‑review workflows. Actively use AI tools to draft job descriptions, analyze engagement trends, summarize exit‑interview themes, and build scalable HR templates. Help build the infrastructure—improve systems, documentation, communication, and repeatability; move from legacy processes to smarter, scalable versions. What You Bring 3‑5 years of HR experience, with significant HRBP or generalist role involving business‑partner exposure. Demonstrated experience supporting sales and/or marketing teams. Working knowledge of sales‑compensation structures—variable pay, commission plans, quota design, and their impact on motivation and retention. Process‑improvement mindset—has rebuilt HR workflows, not just flagged issues. Comfort with HR technology and curiosity about AI; familiar with HRIS, ATS, performance‑management, and L&D platforms; knowledge of Jira a plus. Strong communication skills—simplifies complex HR concepts, writes crisp policy, and navigates difficult conversations. Self‑starter—takes initiative with minimal roadmap. Nice to Haves Edtech or SaaS background. Experience with HRIS platforms, ATS tools, and HR automation. Familiarity with building or overhauling HR processes in a scaling company.
