Job DescriptionWork Arrangement:Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The Role:In this role, you will be responsible for leading new audio architecture product development and integration activities. You will also develop new audio system architecture and strategy followed by design, development, validation and release of Audio Systems into General Motors vehicles across the globe. Apply today!What You'll Do:Support / Lead the development of a new audio architecture strategy in partnership with other SMEsEnsure that new audio architecture is efficient from a cost perspective and scalable for future feature implementationEnsure this same architecture can support full range of audio solutions with significantly improved performance without a cost penalty to base systemsApply DFSS and other tools to develop and select the best solutions for the new audio architectureMentor and train and new audio employees entering the organizationSupport / Lead the more complex challenging new programs which implement the new Audio Architecture vehicles target for SDVDirect suppliers during the sourcing tech reviews and development stagesResolve a wide-range of new architecture issues / challenges related to up integration of audio featuresCraft and approve new Component Technical Specifications (CTS) & Statement of Requirements (SOR) and support sourcing activities and technical related to new audio architectureLeads technical direction over supplier/supplier engineers and engineering support personnelLead and direct supplier resident engineers in release activitiesWork with the TS Tech Specialist to fine tune and implement system requirements, participate in the selection of the right suppliers, and optimize integration into vehiclesLead overall communication, coordination and consultation with engineering departments and customersParticipate in compartment integration team discussions and finding balanced design solutions that meet audio system performance requirementsDefend Audio/Video System Performance Requirements and Audio System Strategy at Program Specific meetings such as CIT’s, POPS, VAPIRDevelop software and hardware development plansEnsure all audio system imperatives are metBuild and balance requirements across systemsRepresent GM in vendor and/or customer contactsRelease final designs for manufacturing or purchase as appropriateManage new vehicle programs with most complex new audio systemsConsult and advise in peer reviewsStay abreast of new technology and competitive productsAt this level you are expected to operate with a high level of independent discernment and are typically responsible for implementing functional strategy, administering and coordinating programs, counseling and advising management.As a fully-qualified individual contributor who has thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the function, you will provide expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems.Resolve highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research.Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.Skilled and proficient with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.Rely mostly on extensive personal experience and discernment to plan and accomplish goals.You will perform multiple tasks. Lead and likely direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related degree5+ experience as a DRE or direct engineering experience within infotainmentSpecific knowledge of engineering field (e.g. mechanics, physics, metallurgy, manufacturing methods, electronics, software, control systems) within job-related areaExperience with automotive electrical systems and functional sub-systemsPrevious experience mentoring / training newer engineersExperience with common electrical test equipment (meter, scopes, etc.)Experience with the GMLAN serial data communication protocolKnowledgeable of A2B, ETHERNET, LAN, andDemonstrated technical and professional skillsHigh level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complexKnowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to Audio SystemsWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills): Master of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related degree8+ experience as a DRE or direct engineering experience within infotainmentExperience within Audio product developmentSpecific knowledge of engineering field (e.g. mechanics, physics, metallurgy, manufacturing methods, electronics, software, control systems) within job-related areaExperience with automotive electrical systems and functional sub-systemsPrevious experience mentoring / training newer engineersBenefits:GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs.
