Assistant Principal

Position Type Administration/ Assistant Principal Description The Assistant Principal is responsible for supporting the Principal in the areas of supervision of instruction in the alternative education and career and technical education programs. The primary responsibilities are development of student disciplinary procedures, and working to continue to improve the culture and climate of the school, with the staff. The Assistant Principal also works with the Principal to improve and develop curriculum for all KEC classes. Administration Assisting the Principal in managing, evaluating and supervising effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, and goals of the school including instructional programs, extracurricular activities, discipline systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate, program evaluation, office operations, and emergency procedures. Ensure compliance with all laws, board policies, and civil regulations. Establishing and promoting high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior. Interacting and collaborating with students, parents and the community to build a school environment that maximizes student learning, academic performance, and social growth. Keeping informed of the national and state curriculum developments and trends that pertain to career technical education by attending appropriate workshops and meetings. Providing leadership and assistance to instructors so that each student may benefit from their time here at KEC. Helping to supervise the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans, and observing classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies, and materials consistent with research on learning. Managing the design and development of program curriculum based on students' needs, workforce development and occupational requirements, and the expectations of stakeholders in accordance with the organizational mission. Public Relations/Community Linkages Maintaining a sound public relations program for students. Present at member schools when necessary and assist with orientation tours for all member schools. Assisting in special activities and events as required. Day Schedule 201 Day Contract School day is 8:00 to 3:00. Compensation $70,000 - $75,000 per school year, Board paid TRS & health insurance stipend offered.
