Role Description The Agency Owner role at Colonial Life in Newark, DE is an on-site leadership position focused on building and managing a successful local insurance agency. Day-to-day responsibilities include recruiting, developing, and mentoring a team of benefits advisors, overseeing sales activities, and driving agency growth through strategic business development. The Agency Owner leads client relationship management, collaborates with employers to design workplace benefits solutions, and ensures high-quality service delivery during enrollment and ongoing support. This role also involves monitoring performance metrics, managing agency operations, and aligning local strategies with Colonial Life’s standards, compliance requirements, and brand values. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in sales leadership, business development, or agency/office management, preferably in insurance, financial services, or a related field. Strong skills in people leadership, team building, coaching, and performance management to support and grow a high-performing sales team. Proficiency in client relationship management, consultative selling, and negotiation, with the ability to communicate complex benefit solutions clearly. Solid organizational, planning, and time-management skills, including the ability to set goals, track progress, and manage multiple priorities. Comfort with using digital tools and CRM systems for prospecting, enrollment support, reporting, and day-to-day agency operations. Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on growth, accountability, and long-term business development in the local Newark, DE market. Ability to work on-site, build local networks, and represent Colonial Life professionally within the community. State-required insurance licenses (or willingness and ability to obtain them), along with adherence to all regulatory and compliance standards.
