Civil Senior Project ManagerThe Civil Senior Project Manager serves as Manson's senior project leader responsible for the successful execution of large, complex projects or multiple concurrent projects. This position provides strategic leadership and oversight while maintaining accountability for safety, quality, contractual compliance, financial performance, schedule achievement, and client satisfaction. The Civil Senior Project Manager provides leadership to project teams, develops and mentors Project Managers and Project Engineers, supports business development and project pursuits. The role serves as a key advisor to Sponsors and Area Managers while maintaining direct accountability for project outcomes.Manson Construction Co. was founded in 1905 as a small pile-driving business supporting the early development of Seattle's waterfront. We recognize that our employees are Manson's number one asset and the reason why we continue to execute benchmark work in the marine construction and dredging industry.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide overall leadership for one major project or a portfolio of multiple projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives and client expectations.Lead project startup, development of execution plans, staffing strategies, risk management plans, and project controls processes.Oversee all aspects of project delivery including safety, quality, environmental compliance, schedule, cost, and contract administration.Ensure projects are staffed with appropriate management personnel, crews, equipment, subcontractors, and resources.Lead project coordination meetings and establish communication processes that drive accountability and performance.Ensure timely project closeout and successful transition of completed work.Financial and Contract ManagementAssume primary responsibility for the financial success of assigned projects.Review and approve project budgets, forecasts, productivity reports, and cost-to-complete projections.Monitor project financial performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.Lead significant contract negotiations, change order strategy, claims development, and dispute resolution.Provide guidance to Project Managers regarding contract administration, entitlement documentation, and risk mitigation.Report project financial status, risks, and opportunities to Sponsors and senior leadership.Client and Business Development LeadershipDevelop and maintain executive-level relationships with clients, partners, consultants, subcontractors, and industry organizations.Serve as the senior company representative on assigned projects.Participate in project pursuits, bid reviews, project development efforts, and strategic planning activities.Support market development efforts and assist in identifying future project opportunities.Collaborate with estimating teams during procurement and preconstruction activities.Team Development and MentorshipProvide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Project Managers, Project Engineers, and emerging leaders.Assist with succession planning, employee development, and engineering training initiatives.Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.Conduct performance discussions and support career development planning for project staff.Promote effective communication and alignment among project teams, regional operations, and senior leadership.Safety and Operational ExcellenceChampion Manson's Incident and Injury Free (IIF) culture across all assigned projects.Conduct project reviews, site visits, and safety audits to ensure compliance with company standards.Ensure implementation of company policies, procedures, and ethical business practices.Lead resolution of significant project challenges involving safety, quality, schedule, or cost performance.Promote best practices in project controls, forecasting, scheduling, risk management, and operational execution.Strategic OversightAct as the primary interface between Project Sponsors and project teams.Identify and escalate strategic risks, opportunities, and business impacts affecting project performance.Support regional operational planning and resource allocation decisions.Provide professional guidance in estimating, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and project controls.Assist Sponsors and Area Managers with regional project portfolio management and organizational objectives.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or related technical discipline from an accredited institution.Minimum 15 years of progressive construction management experience.Minimum 8-10 years of project management experience leading large, complex civil or marine construction projects.Demonstrated success managing projects exceeding $50M+ and/or multiple concurrent projects.Experience mentoring Project Managers and leading multidisciplinary project teams.Marine, heavy civil, structural, transportation, industrial, or design-build project experience preferred.Job LocationApproximately 50% office and 50% field-based activities, including regular project site visits and client interactions. Travel may be required based on project assignments and regional responsibilities.Physical Demands: Position is primarily a field position, and will require travel, including visits and monitoring of construction job sites. Employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc. The employee is required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or up to 50 pounds. Must be able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
