Job Title: Med Tech/Med Lab Tech Profession: Med Tech/Med Lab Tech Specialty: Laboratory Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Afternoons Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: 2 years MLT experience License: ASCP Certifications: ASCP Must-Have: Recent blood bank experience Description: Performs routine laboratory procedures according to standardized methodology by operating equipment such as analyzers, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, and flame photometers. Maintains quality results by running standards and controls. Verifies equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced quality control troubleshooting. Provides test results for patient diagnosis and treatment. Maintains laboratory supplies inventory. Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells using microscopic techniques and procedures. Prepares blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests. Ensures operation of analyzers and other laboratory equipment by calibrating and completing preventive maintenance requirements. Follows manufacturer's instructions and troubleshoots malfunctions. Calls for repairs and maintains equipment inventories. Evaluates new equipment and techniques. Prepares reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information. Performs other related duties as required and directed.
