You will have the opportunity to both support and lead projects at some of the world's most state-of-the-art industrial and commercial facilities.This is a unique role that allows the successful candidate to showcase deep technical expertise, project leadership, and people leadership. The individual will be a critical member of the West Coast Life Sciences group and a key contributor to the Life Sciences, North America business. The role will provide electrical engineering expertise on large, complex life sciences programs through collaboration with our North America and global Life Sciences teams.The Electrical Engineer SME will also support project management activities, including planning, coordination, scope development, schedule and budget awareness, risk identification, client communication, and alignment of technical work with project delivery objectives. The individual will help projects remain responsive to client expectations while maintaining the technical integrity and quality of electrical deliverables.As the West Coast electrical group is established and grows, you will provide technical and organizational leadership for the team. Responsibilities include supporting recruiting and staffing, defining effective ways of working, developing technical capabilities, mentoring engineers and designers, maintaining a consistently high level of enthusiasm and morale, and creating an environment of collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and professional growth.You will be accountable for the technical quality of challenging electrical engineering tasks and deliverables, while gaining familiarity with each client's expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will deliver the design, development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of electrical systems and products for advanced facilities.The role will lead and support electrical power distribution, utility interfaces, substations, emergency and standby power, uninterruptible power systems, grounding and bonding, lighting and lighting controls, hazardous-area requirements, equipment power connections, energy efficiency, electrical studies, and related building and process electrical systems. The Electrical Engineer SME will also promote constructability, maintainability, safety, code compliance, and consistency across design packages.You will coordinate work activities with other design and engineering disciplines, project management, clients, construction teams, vendors, and global delivery partners. A key expectation is to identify and develop coordination opportunities and technical synergies across electrical, mechanical, process, architectural, structural, automation, telecommunications, and life-safety disciplines.You will use your technical expertise to mentor junior and mid-career team members, help them discover what drives them, nurture their professional purpose, and guide them forward. This role is intended for a highly motivated leader who is ready to accept the challenge and bring strategic, inspirational, and practical leadership to the Life Sciences, North America business.Key Responsibilities:• Serve as the electrical subject matter expert for West Coast and North America Life Sciences pursuits, projects, technical reviews, and client engagements.• Provide project management support through work planning, multidisciplinary coordination, schedule and budget awareness, risk management, scope control, and clear communication.• Lead the West Coast electrical group as it is established, helping define the team structure, technical standards, staffing approach, and culture.• Maintain the quality, completeness, consistency, and timely delivery of electrical calculations, studies, drawings, specifications, models, narratives, and related deliverables.• Establish and promote quality-control processes, design reviews, lessons learned, standardization, and continuous improvement.• Build enthusiasm and morale by recognizing contributions, communicating priorities, encouraging collaboration, and supporting individual and team development.• Coordinate effectively with other disciplines and identify synergies that improve integration, constructability, efficiency, and project outcomes.• Support business development, proposals, interviews, client relationships, resource planning, recruiting, and technical thought leadership.• Mentor engineers and designers and foster a culture of safety, technical excellence, accountability, inclusion, and innovation.• Collaborate with North America and global Life Sciences teams to support critical programs, coordinate project team staffing needs and share expertise across offices and regions. Here's what you'll need • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.• 20+ years of practical electrical engineering and design experience, including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, utility service, emergency and standby power, grounding, lighting, controls, and related building or process electrical systems.• Professional Engineer (PE) license.• Demonstrated ability to lead a medium to large team of engineers and designers.• Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, safety practices, design methods, and quality-control processes.• Ability to collaborate and work effectively with local and global teams, multidisciplinary design teams, clients, vendors, and construction teams.• Ability to support the global Life Sciences organization and critical programs worldwide.• Proven ability to maintain high-quality deliverables while balancing scope, budget, schedule, and project priorities.• Passion for advanced facilities, buildings, construction, and the development of high-performing technical teams.Ideally, You'll Also Have:• Proficient working knowledge of Revit and electrical design and analysis software.• Industrial design experience involving pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing, laboratory, semiconductor, data center, or similar technically complex facilities.• Experience with electrical system studies, such as short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash, load flow, reliability, and power-quality evaluations.• Strong verbal, written, presentation, and client-facing communication skills.• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.• A forward-thinking mindset, eagerness to adopt best practices, and willingness to contribute innovative ideas.• Highly strategic and motivational leadership with demonstrated success building trust, enthusiasm, and morale.• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and a strong drive to broaden technical and business knowledge.• Project management, project engineering, or discipline leadership experience.Location• This role is staffed from our San Francisco office as a hybrid position, with approximately three days per week in the office or at client sites, as needed for projects.• Individuals may also be considered for the position from a location near our Irvine office.#LifeSciences, #Bio/Pharma, #EPCMV, #globallifescience, #Construction, #Engineering#LI-SH1Our health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
